Tara Branstad is the Director of Technology Transfer at Carnegie Mellon’s Centre for Technology Transfer and Enterprise Creation (CTTEC). As the senior licensing officer, Tara oversees CTTEC’s team of licensing managers and assists CMU’s AVP for Technology Transfer and Enterprise Creation with the overall operational management of CTTEC. In addition, she serves as the licensing officer assigned to the National Robotics Engineering Centre (NREC). Tara came to Carnegie Mellon in October 2005 and, in her time at CTTEC she has worked with faculty in all schools to facilitate partnering for technology commercialisation. From 2008 to 2015, Tara was also responsible for overseeing CTTEC’s Enterprise Creation and Gap Fund Programs.
In addition to her responsibilities at CTTEC, Tara has presented to students, faculty and technology transfer professionals on behalf of Carnegie Mellon, AUTM (Association for Technology Managers), ASTP-Proton, NCET2 (National Council for Entrepreneurial Tech Transfer), UTEN (University Technology Enterprise Network – Portugal), USIMP (Turkey), and the U.S. Department of Commerce (CLDP).
Tara is a Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP). She studied at the University of Virginia (BA Biology) and the University of Pittsburgh (MHA, MBA).
